What is Plant-a-Row?

As a gardener, you can play an important role in helping provide access to healthy, locally grown produce for those without it. Dedicate a row of your garden to grow select vegetables and donate your harvest to Taproot’s Food Access program. The food you grow will be distributed to local food pantries and other recipient organizations to be shared with our neighbors in need.

How does it work?

Sign up to plant one row (or more!) of your garden with up to three types of produce, using organic growing methods. We will check in with you during the growing season and help you plan the harvest and pickup. Once you harvest and donate your produce, we will weigh it and send you a letter for tax deduction if desired. You may also be featured in our e-newsletter. At the end of the season, we host a potluck harvest event for our gardeners to meet each other and celebrate the season’s successes.

Consider growing produce selected from the list below. These are staple foods often needed by local families. Of course, we welcome any donation of fruits, vegetables, or herbs if you would like to grow something not on this list.
